The Texas Holdem game begins with the dealer shuffling a standard deck of 52 cards. In online casinos, however, the dealer does not play. Instead, a dealer button, which moves clockwise from player to player with each hand, indicates which player would be the dealer if the deal were advanced from player to player as the game progresses.

Now, two players to the immediate left of the dealer put a predefined amount of money in the pot before the cards are dealt so that there will be something to game for in the subsequent hands. These bets are called the blind. Usually, the first player to the immediate left of the dealer posts a blind called the first blind – that is equal to half the minimum bet amount. The second blind, posted by the second player to the left of the dealer (if he indeed posts the bet) will be the full minimum bet amount.

After the blinds are posted, two down cards are dealt to the players, and the betting begins. A round of betting starts from the player to the left of the one who had posted the blind. The other players can call/raise/fold when it is their turn to bet. Once the first round of betting is completed, the dealer drops the top card from the deck in order to pre-empt the possibility that someone might have sneaked a peek of it. The next three cards on the deck are then flipped face up on the table, called the flop.

After the flop, another betting round begins from the player to the left-hand side of the dealer. In this and all future betting rounds, other players can call, raise or fold when their respective turn comes. Next is fourth street during when the dealer issues one more community card the fourth community card – face up on the table. This is usually done after burning the card on top of the deck in order to prevent cheating. Fourth street is followed by a third betting round, starting from the player to the immediate left hand side of the dealer.

The dealer drops another card before placing the final and fifth community card on the table, face up. This face up card is named the fifth street or the river. Players can now use the seven cards available the five community cards and the two hole cards to form the best five card poker hand. The last round of Texas Holdem betting starts from the player to the left side of the dealer, as earlier. After the betting, players who are still in the game reveal their hands, in what is called the show down. The one who had made the initial bet or the one who had made the final raise reveals his hand first. As the other players also reveal their hands in turn, the one with the best hand is adjudged the winner.

In the showdown, if the best five-card hand is formed using all the community cards, and does not include any hole cards, the player would only get a share of the pot. On the other hand, if two or more players have the equal hand, as per the poker rules, then the pot is split between them. As another possibility, if two players have the best five-card hand, formed with the help of less than five cards, the Texas Holdem poker rules insist that the winner be decided on the basis of kicker (the cards that are not part of the winning combination).

Texas Holdem is a very popular poker game played in the casinos of North America. How do you play Texas Holdem Strategy? It is a card game played between 2 – 11 players with a 52 card deck. Two cards (pocket cards) are dealt one after one, face down, starting with the dealer. Then comes the betting followed by “the flop”, or the dealer serving three “community” cards in the middle of the table. Betting occurs again. “The turn” or the fourth community card is dealt out next. It is time for betting to occur again. The last community card is turned out called “the river”, following which betting occurs for the last time. This leads to a showdown.

It is imperative to know how to play Texas Holdem Strategy before you begin to play it. Any player can “fold” and leave at any point of the game, forfeiting his entire bet. Starting from the person who betted first, all the players show their cards one by one. Each one is allowed to use his two pocket cards and the five community cards to make the best 5-card. “The board plays” when all five community cards make the best hand, and the pot is equally shared then.

At the beginning of the game, two persons sitting to the immediate left of the dealer place the “small blind” and the “big blind” in the pot. While betting, a player can choose to fold, call or raise. The player, who stays till the end of the game and has the best hand, wins the pot.

Texas Holdem Strategy

Bluffing is probably the of the best Texas Holdem Strategy. When you Bluff, you try to make your opponents think that you’ve got a better hand then you really do.

Slow-playing is another strategy in which a player bets weakly even when he holds a strong hand.

Position of the players around the table is another factor contributing to their win or loss. How approach play Texas Holdem Strategy if you are seated at a later position with respect to the dealer? In fact, this is an advantage to the player. He has time to assess his opponents and play accordingly.

Raising is an almost sure way to winning even if you do not know too much about Texas Holdem Strategy. Sometimes, it leads to opponents folding soon, and always it leads to a larger pot to win. If it results in calling by the opponents, the player can gain insight into the strength of his rivals. Calling sensibly can be another strategy to win. He gets to see more cards and also by “smooth calling”, he can lure his opponents to “over call” thereby increasing the pot amount.

Many people sit around and play stud poker in their homes and in casinos. However, if you are mainly an at home player you may not be playing by the rules that you will see at an online poker room or in a casino. This could be very bad, if you start playing and make a big mistake that can hurt your pocketbook. The best way to ensure you are ready to play is by learning the rules of stud poker. All casinos offline and online use the same basic rules of play. This article will give you the basics for playing 7-card stud poker, even though there are other varieties such as 5-card stud poker.

The way in which the game of 7 card Stud Poker is played is that each player begins by putting the ante in the center of the table. This is normally a predetermined amount of money set by the casino or online poker room.

Once everyone has anted the dealer begins with the player on his or her left and deals two cards down and one card face up to each player. The player that has the lowest card face up begins the betting, known as the “bring in”. The betting goes around the table in clockwise fashion until every player has made their bet with each player either calling, raising the bet, or folding.

After this round of betting, the dealer deals the fourth card to every player that is still in the game, meaning they have not folded. Now, the player with the best hand showing begins the betting. Then the betting goes around the table again with players once again calling, raising, or folding.

The next card or fifth card is dealt to each player face up with another round of betting as before. Then the sixth card is dealt face up with a round of betting. The last card or seventh card is dealt by the dealer to each player that has not folded face down.

The players after this have another round of betting and then show their hand, known as the showdown. The winner is the one with the best 5-card hand. Each card that is dealt is also referred as street such as Fourth Street instead of the fourth card and so on until reaching Seventh Street or the seventh card.

Of course, this is just the basic game play, in order to play poker well, you must learn all about the rankings and what hands beat which hands. You may think that you have a great hand just because you have 2 pair, however, if another player has 3 of a kind or a full house, you will loose. The better you are at learning the rankings and the way in which to play the various types of poker games, the more likely you are to bring in some winnings.

Playing online poker is not the same as playing in person, as you cannot watch body language, which is a great advantage if you want to win. However, there are ways you can read the action of other poker players if you know what to look for in an online poker game.

The first thing you should pay attention to is how long it takes the person to place a bet. This is known as the stall. However, many experienced players are now using this method to try to fool other players. The best way for the stall method to work is that you must know the players in the room. After you play a room awhile, you will get to know the regulars and learn who is an expert. Once you know this, then the stall method will help you know which players are new. Inexperienced players often stall due to the fact they are not sure how much to bet even if they have a great hand. Just watch your step, remember pros are now using the same method to side track you.

Watch for players that have been playing rather quickly and then all of a sudden stall or vice versa one that has been thinking a bit before betting and then bets quickly after being dealt a hand. Either one of these could mean they have something good in their hand. No matter whether you are playing online or offline, you can learn behavior patterns of other poker players and get the edge.

The pattern of poker players is probably the most important factor with online poker. Since you cannot watch their faces, you can still watch the patterns that are there from betting, to calling, to raising. You should pay attention to the way in which each player bets compared to the size of the pot as well. Online players are normally those that play all the time, they have their own routine and patterns, just as in real life. These are things you must learn if you want to win at any online poker game.

Watch those chat boxes. Yes, it can be fun to chat with your friends; however, you can also be heckled just like in real life. A matter of fact, the chat box might be your worst enemy. They can yell at you with all capitals, use rolling smiley faces, and more to distract you from your main goal. You will hear all kinds of insults such as “newbie”, the “game room cheats”, and so on and so forth. Anything to get your mind off the game and watching the other players.

Of course, you cannot watch the other players in your poker room, but you can watch the way they play and learn from experience how to read online poker players.

How many of you play games of poker? How many of you lose more often than you win, are you just making up the numbers but in the process giving away your hard earned cash? Maybe you want to start playing poker, either way this will help. Don’t forget to follow up what you read here with the free videos on www.bethepokershark.com

1. So just knowing the rules and nothing else won’t get you far. But not knowing the rules will have you in a hot caldron of trouble surrounded by hungry cannibals. So learn the rules of the game. Check out this video

2. The most common sign of a Poker Loser is a player who plays weak hands. Wasting your chips on hands which have no chance of winning is about as good a use for your cash as burning it to toast marshmallows. Wait for the right hands, then play, you will be rewarded!

3. Almost all poker players play with some sort of strategy whether they know it or not. If you want to be a Poker Loser then ignore the other players at the table, don’t watch how they are playing. If on the other hand you want to be a winner, do the opposite. Watch the rest of the table when you are in hands and when you’re out.

4. A sure fire way to be a Loser is to forget about simple probability. Remember your chance of winning is important to consider, so is that fact that it changes during a hand as the game develops. To simplify this as much as possible, think about how much you will need to bet in comparison to the pot, keeping this in mind should keep you on the right track. Check out this video

5. Ok so in step 3 we said watch other players if you want to avoid pinning the loser badge to your shirt. Once you have watched some poker you will see and recognise the different styles and strategies that players are using. For example you might notice the aggressive players on a table betting big on a small pot to make you think back to those odds we talked about in step 4. Once you understand how these styles work you will be able to start using them yourself and understand how other players are using them to give yourself the edge against them, turn the tables and set them up as the loser.
